“Animals play, so they must be more than merely mechanical things. We play and know that we play, so we must be more than merely rational beings, for play is irrational.”

- John Huizinga (Homo Ludens)

An interactive theatrical performance where Chris explores his time growing up in a traditional game store and the impact play has on our lives. We’re going to be playing games together.

What this is.

Who we are.

We all have a desire to play rooted in our deepest, innermost need for human connection and wish fulfillment. We are Homo Ludens. People who play.

Chris Canfield is an award-winning magician and interdisciplinary artist who spent his childhood in a family-owned traditional game store surrounded by games and their inventors. He combines storytelling and magical elements to create immersive theatrical experiences.
